Why did the Pharisees and teachers of the law question Jesus when He said to the paralyzed man, “Your sins are forgiven”? Was their concern valid? What was the biblical basis for their objection?

After declaring that “the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” why did Jesus then heal the paralyzed man? What invisible truth was this visible miracle meant to confirm?
